Hi, I'm Funke

I'm a photographer and filmmaker based in Manchester. I make pictures that feel like a scene from something, colour-led, deliberately framed, and warmer than a portrait usually gets to be.

I came to this the long way round. I studied Microbiology first, then an MA in Media & Communication, been a content creator and model for years and somewhere in between I worked out that what I actually wanted was to look closely at people and give them back something they recognised. Born in Nigeria, based in Manchester, available to travel.

Most of my work is birthdays, portraits and boudoir, people marking something, or finally deciding to be in front of a camera on purpose. I also shoot personal branding, events, and commercial campaigns; past clients include M&S, Adobe and Pinterest.

What people tell me afterwards is rarely about the pictures first. It's that they felt comfortable. That they forgot to be self-conscious about halfway through shooting. I care about that as much as the frame, a good shoot is mostly a good hour, and the images come out of that.

I'm moving further into film now, so a lot of my work these days is moving as well as still.
